#1 Spot on Audio Portal's All-time Top Scoring!

2011-01-07 19:49:49 by IMD007

I have no idea how it happened, but it sure did happen!

Last night at roughly midnight I decided to look up the stats on my 3 songs just to see if anything had changed significantly, and boy was I in for a surprise! The Legend of Zelda arrangement I did a little over a year ago had jumped up roughly 200 votes/downloads and 3,000 listens!

Thinking the only possible way this could be was it being featured on the Audio Portal front page, I immediately went to investigate. Sure enough, at the top of the All-Time list was none other than my song!

What followed was an assortment of amazement, disbelief and a small touch of hyperventilation.

I just have to say thanks to everyone who got it up there, it sure has been interesting to see my work get such high acclaim on a site with thousands of user-made songs!

How does the Best Tracks Ever system work anyways?

IMD007 responds:

I really wish I could tell you. :|

Since my song got on there the score has dropped (it's around 3.5 now, I think it was like 4.0 with a fairly small amount of votes before it got on), yet it's still #1. I think they may rotate weekly, but I really haven't checked before so I can't say for sure.

Congratulations! Nice song, and I actually talk a lot to BassAceGold on IRC. I noticed I have a song there too on #11. Just letting you know it had a score of over 4.3, which dropped to 3.8 over the course of a few days, which probably is the time it's been up there (no idea how long).

(Updated ) IMD007 responds:

Yeah, I'm going to guess the pattern is that a less noticed song that has 40 or so votes with a 4-5 average score will end up on the list then get voted down and replaced by other songs later.

My song is still up there, though, so it's hard to say if that's really how it ends up.

The second the list changes I'm going to see how many listens the new songs have to see if this is correct.
